Influence of a Twitter account does not depend on the number of followers who are following the Twitter account. It also depends on the size of the followers of the Twitter account whose influence is being considered.
twInfluence is a simple tool for measuring the combined influence of twitterers and their followers, with a few social network statistics thrown in as bonus. twInfluence has taken serious social network analysis to find out the influence of a particular account. For example, if you are a person who gets retweeted a lot, then your Twitter influence is high. This shows that all followers are not equal.
What does it do?
twInfluence calculates two kinds of rankings - one is the absolute rank that is calculated on the number of analyzed twitterers to date and the other one is that assigns a value and category relative to other twitterers that have more or less the same number of followers as you.
How does it rank?
Ranking in twInfluence is calculated on the basis of
- First and Second Order social networks
- Reach
- Velocity
- Social Capital
- Centralization
- Efficiency
- Opt-in notices by email or tweets.
- Search/Chart growth of individual users overtime.
- Improved "reach" and other algorithms based on more computationally, intensive SNA.
