With no tweet license policy, republishing them without asking permission is bit of a grey area. tweetCC makes it easy for the Twitter users to offer their tweets under a Creative Commons Public Domain Dedication or other Creative Common Licenses, so that anyone wanting to reproduce can then do without asking the owner of the tweet. The Twitterers has to simply send a message to tweetCC via Twitter including the words"@tweetcc: I license my tweets under a Creative Commons Public Domain Dedication."
tweetCC also offers CC Zero Waiver which a way to the users who want to give up copyright rights and it is claimed to be better than Public Domain Dedication (PDDC). Other than the new CC Zero Waiver, many other Creative Commons licenses are also available. It is neither affiliated with Twitter nor Creative Commons.
