Tweetmeme - Finding out the latest stories on Twitter

Posted by Sathis Raj S On 10:01 AM

Tweetmeme is a combination of Techmeme and a standard Twitter aggregator. The site monitors Twitter tweets for links and determines which ones are becoming popular, then posts them on a constantly updated page.

Tweetmeme finds out the hottest links on Twitter based on various categories which include Comedy, Entertainment, Gaming, Lifestyle, Science, Sports, Technology and Business. Each category is well organised based on the recent posts which have got the most number of retweets.

Retweeting is becoming a fastest currency on the web. Tweetmeme, is cornering the market on retweets by making it easy for blogs and other sites to add a retweet button to every page. You can see one at the bottom of this post. Just click on it, and it will take you to your Twitter account and populate a message with a “RT,” the headline, and a short link. Do try it. Fine.

Nick Halstead, CEO has reported that the retweet buttons are getting so widespread that they are generating around 196 million impressions per week. Tweetmeme makes retweeting fun. For website owners and bloggers, the retweet button shows how popular their posts are among their readers.
Using the tweetmeme button you can discover new content and tweet about it. The button provides a fully integrated URL shortener and the story or page’s title. Each link which is posted on Twitter adds increments the count on that story. The more tweets a story recieves, the more popular it is!
Tweememe is retweeting remade.

Meet Nick Halstead, founder of Tweetmeme and the king of the RT button.
